You have seen how over a period of 100 years (1757-1857) the British established their rule over most of India. The political, economic, social and religious policies followed by the British government in India caused anger and discontent among the people. During this 100 years, there were several uprisings against the British in different parts of the country.
The revolt of 1857 was the landmark in the history of India's struggle for freedom .It started on may ,1857 with the mutiny of soldiers in Meerut Cantonment.The revolutionary soldiers marched towards Delhi. On may 11,1857, Delhi was a mute witnessed of a band sepoys who crossed over the Yamuna and entered the Red Fort .They appealed to the aged Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah, an emperor without any authority, to take over the leadership of the revolt.He was proclaimed the Shahenshah-e-Hindustan. The sepoys captured the city of Delhi killed many Englishmen and ransacked many public offices.
Through the revolt was started by the Indian soldiers in the service of the East India Company, it soon spread to different parts of country, it soon spread to different parts of country. Different sections of society like peasants, artisans, soldiers, educated Indians and many Indians rulers joined hands to fight heroically against the Foreign rule. Hindus and Muslims also came together to oppose the foreign domination.
But these unrests were localized and were put down by the British. It finally erupted as the Revolt of 1857. The Revolt of 1857 was a large scale rebellion against British rule, which swept across northern and Central India in a series of violent uprisings. If it had succeeded it would have marked the end of colonial rule in India. But after battling the rebels for almost two years, the British managed to crush the Revolt. They went on to rule India for another 90 years. But the Revolt of `1857 had such far reaching consequences that some historians refer to it as the first War of Indian Independence.

My experience with Abhyas academy is very good. I did not think that my every subject coming here will be so strong. The main thing is that the online tests had made me learn here more things.
